Awarded to a Newaygo County resident or student graduating from a Newaygo County high school.

  • Scholarship is intended to benefit students pursuing a vocational trade with preference to students pursuing training and a career in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) or health care
Fremont High School, Holton High School, Skilled Trades/Apprenticeships
Mark Houston Scholarship Fund
  • Non-renewable scholarship awarded to graduating seniors from Fremont High School and Holton High School
  • Preference to students attending Muskegon Community College
  • Preference to students not eligible for Promise Zone scholarship
  • Preference to students who have taken vocational classes in high school and are pursuing a skilled trade or vocational trade
  • Preference to students with financial need
  • Demonstrates hard work, honesty and dependability

  • Awarded to a Newaygo County resident or student graduating from a Newaygo County High School

One, two-year renewable scholarship to a Newaygo County High School or home school graduating senior.

  • Students pursing a trade career
  • Preference to applicants with financial need

Donors wish to give examples of what they mean by “trade career.” The following examples are not meant to be exclusive but are intended to give guidance as to the type of career Donors view as a trade: Automotive service technician, baker, boilermaker, carpentry, cement mason, collision repair technician, cooking, cosmetologist, crane operator, electrician, formwork technician, funeral director, furniture design, geothermal heating technician, grip, heavy equipment operator, industrial instrument mechanics, locksmith, meat cutter, millwright, painter and decorator, pipefitter, rig technician, sprinkler system installer, utility arborist, welder level “C”.
