Annual report highlight: Cultivating a stronger nonprofit community
June 20, 2014Marianne Boerigter
Although she is now immersed in the arts, Marianne Boerigter was originally brought to work at the Newaygo County Council for the Arts (NCCA) and the Dogwood Center for the Performing Arts for her nonprofit expertise. “Mine is more of a learned appreciation of the arts,” she admitted. That said, she feels fortunate to live and work in a community with such rich cultural assets. “There’s no other county quite like us. It’s amazing.”
Marianne now holds the position of Executive Director at both NCCA and the Dogwood Center.
In order to strengthen both organizations, in 2013 Marianne participated in programming from the Community Foundation’s nonprofit sustainability initiative: Community Partner Effectiveness. The programming included high-quality workshops and trainings on topics ranging from strategic planning to social media, technical assistance, and individual consultations.
Marianne’s staff and boards have been thrilled with the results. “This work is providing strength to make NCCA and the Dogwood Center longstanding organizations that the community can be proud of,” she said.
