Position opening: Philanthropic Services Officer
Fremont Area Community Foundation is looking for a detail-oriented individual who loves working with people to join our team as a Philanthropic Services Officer. This position involves promoting philanthropy, working with donors and nonprofit organizations, and helping to implement a successful donor stewardship program. This position will include some travel within Newaygo, Lake, Mecosta, and Osceola counties. General responsibilities of this position
- Work with the philanthropic services team to cultivate and expand relationships with donors, nonprofit organizations, and affiliate funds
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and current donors and fund representatives
- Collaborate with other staff to enhance the donor experience, provide high-impact stewardship and events for dinners, and heighten awareness of giving and recognition opportunities
- Prepare and process new fund agreements and track stewardship activities in the Community Foundation database

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Three to five years of related work experience and knowledge of the nonprofit sector
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
- High-level interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner

Our organization
We were founded in 1951 by a group of dedicated community leaders and have grown to be one of the largest community foundations in the U.S. on a per capita basis. In 2025, we awarded $9.9 million in grants and more than $859,000 in scholarships. We held $342.5 million in assets as of December 31, 2025.
Our mission is to enhance quality of life for all people in Newaygo County and surrounding communities. We do this by connecting the generosity of passionate donors with community needs, and are guided by the principles of building goodwill, earning trust, and strengthening relationships. What it’s like to work here
We value work/life balance and seek to cultivate a flexible, positive culture. Our office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. Staff can choose to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays and can take advantage of wellness time off and volunteer time programs. We have a comfortable, well-maintained office just outside the City of Fremont, and our property includes a multi-acre prairie area featuring native plants and a walking path.
