Congratulations! You received a Community Foundation scholarship. What happens next?

How a scholarship is paid

All scholarships are paid directly to your college, university, or technical/trade school. Before a scholarship can be paid, you must:

  • Return a completed award form (found in the packet handed out at your school award ceremony) and any required documents listed on the form.
  • Write a thank you note for each scholarship received. Address the thank you note to the donor who made the scholarship possible. Send it to Fremont Area Community Foundation and we will forward it to the donor.

Renewable scholarships

Students awarded renewable scholarships will receive a renewal form in the mail each summer. It will list any documentation you are required to submit before the next scholarship payment can be made. This form must be completed and returned with required documentation by July 31.

Changing schools

While most scholarships can be used at any accredited college, university, certification program, or career training program, some are limited to certain schools. If you change schools, contact us to determine if you are still eligible for your scholarship. If so, we will transfer any remaining scholarship funds to your new school.

Adult students

Before a scholarship can be paid, you must return a completed award form (which was mailed to you when you were awarded your scholarship) and any required documents listed on the form. You are strongly encouraged to also write a thank you note to the donor who made the scholarship possible.
