Scholarship Type: Current College Students

Jerome A. Conrad M.D. Family Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of a Mecosta County high school

  • Applicant must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher
  • Applicant must be enrolled in pre-medical program or in medical school and planning on obtaining a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
  • Preference for a renewable scholarship award
  • Preference to students attending Aquinas College
  • Realistic career goal and a plan to achieve the goal
  • Participation in community and volunteer service

Scott D. Anderson College Scholarship

To be awarded to students enrolled in Ferris State University’s College of Technology

  • Preference should be given to students enrolled in the manufacturing, design, or graphic arts department
  • Preference to students with a physical disability
  • GPA of 2.5 based on a 4.0 scale
  • Financial need shall be considered but it will not be the final determinant

Lee and Nancy Deters Family Scholarship

To be awarded to a Newaygo County resident or a Newaygo County high school graduate

  • Scholarship is intended to benefit students pursuing a vocational trade with preference to students pursuing training and a career in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) or health care

Charles and Melanie DeKryger Family Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of a Newaygo County high school or Western Michigan Christian High School who has also graduated from Fremont Christian School

  • Pursuing a career in the medical field

Jane Reath Scholarship

To be awarded to a deserving Newaygo County High School graduate who is seeking post-secondary education

Eric W. Rudert Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of White Cloud High School

  • Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement by having a GPA in the range of 3.0 to 3.7
  • Applicants must demonstrate a benefit to the White Cloud area and Newaygo County by being involved in school or community activities such as sports or volunteering
  • The top 5% of the graduating class are ineligible for this scholarship
  • Preference will be given to students attending Michigan State University and those not eligible for other scholarships
  • Financial need is not a criterion for this scholarship.

Richard D. Maurer Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of Newaygo High School

  • Demonstrated financial need and lack of alternate resources
  • The scholarship may be used for tuition only

Nicole Marion Tilley Scholarship

To be awarded to a Newaygo County resident or a graduate of a Newaygo County high school

  • Student pursuing a special education degree

Carl G. Smith and Viola C. Smith Scholarship Fund

To be awarded to a graduate of Hesperia High School

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be involved in community and/or school service
  • Demonstrate leadership ability
  • Recipients must be accepted and financially committed (paid housing reservation or other holding fee) to a four-year college or university or a two-year community college transfer program
  • Recipients must be committed to future goals by demonstrating a strong potential for success

Nancy and Don Myers Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of Hesperia Community Schools

  • Preference to applicants pursuing a degree in culinary arts
  • If there is no qualifying applicant pursuing a culinary arts degree, preference to applicants pursuing a criminal justice degree
  • Preference to applicants with little or no other financial assistance

Charles W. Hazen Memorial Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduating high school senior from Hesperia High School

  • Pursuing a degree in business or art
  • If there are no applicants in any given academic school year pursuing a degree in business or art, any graduating senior from Hesperia High School may apply for this scholarship as long as they have financial need

Norie McKinlay Brown Memorial Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of Grant High School

  • Proven academic success, having achieved a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Financial need, particularly if student may not otherwise be able to afford to attend college

Charles Reefman Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of Fremont High School

  • Preference given to applicants who are pursuing a degree in automotive, building trades, or special education

Karnemaat Family Scholarship

To be awarded to graduates of Fremont High School who are pursuing a career in the field of ministry, conservation, or a food-related career (such as agriculture, nutrition, food processing, food distribution, etc.)

  • Member of a Christian church

Susan L. Head Memorial Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of Fremont High School

  • Students should be pursuing a medical related field, preference should be given to students pursuing a career in the nursing field
  • Involvement in school, community, or volunteer activities
  • Financial need is not a criterion

Eddie Bell Scholarship

To be awarded to a graduate of Fremont High School

  • Preference given to applicants who are special education students or applicants who are pursuing a degree in special education, nursing, or science
