We believe that education is one of the most important tools for success.

Statistics consistently prove that some type of education beyond high school—whether a degree or a technical certification—is necessary for the future of our students and for our local community.

Further education drives down unemployment rates and increases individual salaries, but it also leads to a more engaged community through increased volunteerism and voter participation.

That’s why we adopted the ambitious Goal 2025 to guide our work in education. This goal generated an initiative of the same name in 2012.

Our goal: To increase the proportion of residents who hold high-quality college degrees, credentials, or certificates to 60 percent by the year 2025. To increase educational attainment in our community, we focus on:

  • Kindergarten readiness
  • STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math)
  • Literacy
  • Remediation
  • Creating a positive college and career-oriented culture
