How to Apply

Applying for a scholarship at Fremont Area Community Foundation is easy!

All scholarships are possible thanks to the generosity of many local individuals, families, and organizations who created permanent endowment funds to further education in our community.

Here’s how to apply:

High School Students

By completing our general scholarship application, you will be considered for over 90 scholarships. The online application system is also used for scholarships from Lake, Mecosta, and Osceola community foundations. You will need the following information to complete your online application:

        • Your cumulative GPA, class size, and class rank (class size and rank can be estimated)
        • A list of your academic or extracurricular activities since ninth grade
        • Your SAT score
        • A 500-word essay addressing your goals, activities, accomplishments, and more (details can be found in the application)
        • Your employment history

You should also submit a copy of the financial information form to your first-choice academic institution as soon as possible.

Adult Students

The Community Foundation offers multiple scholarships, many for up to two years, year-round to adult students residing in Newaygo County. We define adult students as individuals who have been out of high school for at least two years and/or have a gap in their post-secondary education. In order to be considered for a single scholarship, complete the adult student application. You will need the following items to complete your online application:

        • Your employment history
        • Your educational history
        • Your aspirations for education, career path, and the future

Applications will be approved or denied by the last day of the month following submission (i.e. June applications will be approved/denied by July 31).
