Fremont Area Community Foundation is seeking two AmeriCorps VISTA members to play a critical role in developing county-wide strategies in the areas of marginalized youth, poverty reduction, and college and career access.

One of the positions will be focused on poverty reduction and “Opportunity Youth,” young people who are currently disconnected from education and employment. The VISTA member will research the communication ecosystem used by these individuals and, as part of the Newaygo County Community Collaborative (NC3) and its YouTHrive Coalition, will help develop strategies to reach and serve this population.

The second position will focus on creating college and career access for Newaygo County residents. The VISTA member will collaborate with WE CAN! Newaygo County and other educational partners to help develop strategies aimed at reducing barriers to college and career access.

Both VISTA positions will begin on August 22. For more information and to apply, visit americorps.cedam.info/now-hiring and click the Fremont Area Community Foundation links under “Positions Available Across Michigan.” Applications will close on July 27.

To become an AmeriCorps VISTA member, you must be at least 18 and a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent U.S. alien. VISTA members must commit to serving full-time for a year and will receive a modest living allowance. Learn more about the qualifications and benefits.
