After nine years of providing a warm greeting to visitors and callers to Fremont Area Community Foundation, Joan Moore will retire in January.

Moore has served as a receptionist and office assistant at the Community Foundation since 2007. She took on the part-time position after her retirement in 1999 from Lucent Technologies, where she had worked for 30 years.

“I’m really happy I came here,” said Moore. “It’s a good organization that does a lot of good for Newaygo County. I was glad to be a part of it.”

Mary Crisman, FACF administrative services director, said that Moore’s energy and friendliness have made a lasting impact not only on staff but on the community as a whole.

“There is just no way to amply express how much we’ve appreciated and relied on Joan over the last nine years,” said Crisman. “She has been an integral part of our administrative staff, and her enthusiasm and upbeat personality will be sorely missed by the entire organization as well as the community. We wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement!”

In her second retirement, Moore is looking forward to having more free time to volunteer at her church and other community organizations.
